I didn't grow up in the actual City of Manila, but I find it a lot more fascinating than the sanitized city of Makati, where I've lived for 13 of the 21 years I've been alive.

I'd like to use this journal to post pictures of Manila and the surrounding cities (Makati, Quezon City, Pasig, etc.). I may post pictures from other places in the Philippines, but that PROBABLY won't be very often. These pictures aren't "art" and they're not very good (plus I'm not going to Photoshop them), but I hope you enjoy them and get to see what I see in Manila.

A sort-of related project started by some friends:

Sense Manila is a concept weblog borne out of thin air, cigarette smoke, and a love for a city unique in all the world.

The concept behind this contributor-run weblog is this:

How would you describe an experience of Manila to a person who's never been here?
Something that speaks of the uniqueness of the city's people, unspoken rules, good or nasty habits, food, streets, sub cultures.... and so on.

And we don't mean to use adjectives like "hot", "humid", "traffic jams galore", "seedy", "posh", etc. - but tangible experiences, things you can hear, see, feel, taste, and smell in Manila.
